Mikhail Tatarnikov | Conductor                                  

Mikhail studied music at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire and at the faculty of opera and symphony conducting (class of Alexander Polishchuk).
He made his debut as a conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2006 with the premiere of the ballet Metaphysics to Prokofiev's Second Symphony. In 2007 he conducted his first opera - a new production of Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges. Subsequently he has become one of the major conductors at the Mariinsky theatre, conducting a wide range of opera’s and concerts.

Outside the Mariinsky he has conducted at the Teatro Regio Torino, Settimane Musicali di Stresa (Italy), the Novosibirsk Philharmonic and St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire orchestras, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra as well as a gala concert with Jennifer Larmore, his Moscow orchestral debut with the Russian National Orchestra and he assisted Valery Gergiev for performances of Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.

Last season Mikhail conducted numerous opera’s and concerts at the Mariinsky Theatre as well as the Gävle Symphony, Russian National Orchestra and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He gave his German debut at the opening concert of the Music Festival of Dresden with the Russian National Orchestra, followed by performances of Hoffmann’s Tales at the Komische Oper Berlin.

This seasons engagements include conducting the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, a Gala concert in Veerhaven in the frame of the Gergiev Festival and a new production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Riga Opera.
